Eagles are great fishermen.
True to its nickname (which is Fish Eagle,) the bald eagle dines mainly on fish either snatched from the water's surface or stolen from another bird.
In 1782, the founding fathers of the United States chose the bald eagle as the country's national emblem. Bald eagles live only in North America and they represent long life, great strength and dignity.
Female bald eagles weigh up to 14 pounds and have a wingspan of up to 8 feet. Males are smaller, weighing 7- 10 pounds, and a wingspan of 6 1/2 feet. The white head and tail feathers appear only after the bird is 4 to 5 years old.
